James Cheng (郑炯文), who served as Director of the Harvard-Yenching Library from 1998-2020, spoke last year with HYI Associate Director Li Ruohong about his career path, his guiding principles for leading East Asian Libraries at major research universities in the US, and the changes and transformations that the Harvard-Yenching Library has gone through during his tenure.
