我錯失的「 金色台灣新年 」和《撒馬爾罕的金桃》

『金色新年台灣更好』是祝詞。我那時應該不是在讀關於 "生活‧讀書‧ 新知"等 方面的書，而是在回味柏林愛樂的「貝多芬之夜（ 2005/11/17）」（Ludwig van Beethoven 之 Eroica (Italian for "heroic"貝多芬降 E 大調第三號交響曲「英雄」作品55 ，之前有白遼士「海賊序曲」作品21、拉威爾「鵝媽媽」組曲、之外，還有西貝流斯的 ……）…… 歲末煙火之時，

京都 寺院的除歲鐘聲，會像川端康成的寂寞回響嗎？

倫敦的摩天輪會再轉千年嗎？

「長安之春」的胡旋女，早已舞罷，我們還在醉酒 …..

"…… 台北101昨晚再度詮釋完美煙火秀， 40萬人在台北 101前一起倒數「10 、9、 8、7 、6、 5、4 、3、 2、1 ！2006新年快樂！」並親睹這場歷時 128秒的煙火秀。過程中， 8千1 百枚煙火瞬間向暗夜狂奔而去，時而為大樓戴上金黃色皇冠，時而像一條飛龍蟠柱而上，讓新年一開始就充滿生命力。40 萬民眾看傻了眼，直呼：「活在台北好幸福！」 市府表示，透過電視轉播，全球有上億人目睹美景。一名民眾說：「煙火秀不只讓人看了激動萬分，還像見證歷史般，共同參與屬於台北人的特有驕傲！ ……」

那時候， 布與新婚妻子佳儀去德國度蜜月的回程飛過曼古還是越南，不，越過印度洋回太平洋，看得到台灣的群山聳立嗎？

《唐代的外來文明》，原書名叫《撒馬爾罕的金桃》 The golden peaches of Samarkand; a study of T 'ang exotics. by EH Schafer – 1963/1985 - Berkeley: University of California Press 。

這本書的作者墓木已拱。不過， 1970s 台灣可能有翻譯本。數十年之後，1995 有簡體字版：〔美〕薛愛華著，《唐代的外來文明》(吳玉貴譯：，中國社會科學出版社年版)。十年之後，陜西師範在出「豪華版」本。這時候，正倉院的香木，早已蒙上千年的風塵 ……….日本的讀者試訳『Golden peach of Samarkand （サマルカンドの金の桃) 』………

西元七世紀，撒爾馬罕國的國王兩次向唐朝進貢這種珍異的果子，據說 "大如鵝卵，其色如金 "。謝弗以此作書名，是把它作了未知事物的一個象徵，他這樣說及外來事物對唐朝人生活的影響：

　一隻西裏伯斯的白鸚，一條撒爾馬罕的小狗，一本摩揭陀的奇書，一劑占城（？）的烈性藥，等等，每一種東西都可能以不同的方式引發唐朝人的想像力，從而改變唐朝的生活模式。

中國史籍中的"金桃"，首見唐代粟特之康國，即謝弗所謂"撒馬爾罕的金桃（The Golden Peaches of Samarkand ）"是也。（《舊唐書》卷 198西戎諸國康國傳，貞觀十一年，"又獻金桃、銀桃，詔令植之於苑囿。"《封氏聞見記》卷 7、《唐會要》卷 200都曾提到。 ... ）

（ ... 大唐是盛產箭的，並且是世界聞名，訂購者頭名就是波斯，那時的波斯是蟠桃產地。研究唐朝進口貨的 Edward Schafer 稱這些蟠桃為Golden Peaches of Samarkand ，兩國貿易往來甚密。）

位於今日中亞的烏茲別克斯坦與塔吉克斯坦，阿姆河、錫爾河所夾的狹長地區被稱為索格底亞那，住在這個地區、說粟特語的人，被稱為粟特人，這種『語族』的概念與今日認知的『種族』並不一致。粟特一詞是《魏書》中的譯詞，在漢魏之間的史料中也譯粟弋，在此之前，則以康居、安息等國名存在於漢文文獻中。
