Definition: [adj] as bad as can be; characterized by human misery; "AIDS is one of the dystopian harbingers of the global villages"- Susan Sontag
"In the dystopian novel Disgrace, David Lurie does not achieve creativity and freedom until, stripped of all dignity, he is afflicted by his own shame and history's disgrace. In this work, Coetzee summarises his themes: race and gender, ownership and violence, and the moral and political complicity of everyone in that borderland where the languages of liberation and reconciliation carry no meaning." 」
For a man of his age, fifty-two, divorced, he has, to his mind, solved the problem of sex rather well. On Thursday afternoons he drives to Green Point. Punctually at two p.m. he presses the buzzer at the entrance to Windsor Mansions, speaks his name, and enters. Waiting for him at the door of No. 113 is Soraya. He goes straight through to the bedroom, which is pleasant-smelling and softly lit, and undresses. Soraya emerges from the bathroom, drops her robe, slides into bed beside him. `Have you missed me?' she asks. `I miss you all the time,' he replies. He strokes her honey-brown body, unmarked by the sun; he stretches her out, kisses her breasts; they make love.
Soraya is tall and slim, with long black hair and dark, liquid eyes. Technically he is old enough to be her father; but then, technically, one can be a father at twelve. He has been on her books for over a year; he finds her entirely satisfactory. In the desert of the week Thursday has become an oasis of luxe et volupté.

He has a shrewd idea of how prostitutes speak among themselves about the men who frequent them, the older men in particular. They tell stories, they laugh, but they shudder too, as one shudders at a cockroach in a washbasin in the middle of the night. Soon, daintily, maliciously, he will be shuddered over. It is a fate he cannot escape.

(malapropism the wrong use of one word instead of another word because they sound similar to each other, and which is amusing as a result
(from Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary) )
Sir, you have"tasted"two whole "worms"; you have "hissed" all my "mystery" lectures and been caught "fighting" a "liar" in the quad; you will leave by the next "town" "drain".
Sir, you have wasted two whole terms; you have missed all my history lectures and been caught lighting a fire in the quad; you will leave by the next down train.
describes a story that is probably not true although often told and believed by some people to have happened:
an apocryphal story
It's a good story but I dare say it's apocryphal.
One of many "Spoonerisms" now considered apocryphal.】

"Shit(幹),"Dale said.
The phone kept ringing.
"Don't answer it", she whispered.
"It might be Joanna,"I said.
"No. It's your fucking friend(爛朋友) Bloom,"she said.
It was my fucking friend Bloom.

I put the receiver back on the cradle. Frank was still staring and scowling at me.

"Yeah,"he said, and shook his head,"That's the shit of it,ain't it?From what I get from the complaint, she was beaten up real bad.So now she turns up on the beach, burned to death.Does it seem like a coincidence to you?"
That's the shit of it"譯作「事情怪就怪在這裏」顯然有誤,因為這一句不是承上,
6.
"Susan,cut it out."
"Cut what out?"
"This bullshit about Dale."(你給戴爾起的鳥稱呼)
"l certainly hope you don't use that kind of language in Jodanna's presence. It's bad enough…"
8.
"And her language…well, she curses a lot, even more than any of the other girls do-that's normal for Saint Mark's, cursing a lot,the whole `shit, piss, cunt, fuck' routine(開口閉口就是「操、幹、屌」), you know。 But Heather really goes overboard with it,like she's trying to prove how mature she is,you know what I mean?"
